The Local Platform

The shared operating platform behind the Local Internet.

The capabilities every Local Internet property uses — records, verification, publication, discovery, owner controls and measurement — provided once and shared.

OperationalEvery capability listed here functions in the current system today. Planned capabilities are not listed.

Shared capabilities

Provided once. Used by every property.

Records and trust

  • Business Records

Each business exists once, as one shared record that every property reads.

  • Claims

An owner can request control of a record. A claim is reviewed; claiming alone proves nothing.

  • Verification

Independent review of ownership and facts. Listed, Claimed and Verified stay separate states.

Structured facts

  • Locations

    Where the business operates.

  • Services

What it does, as structured service facts.

  • Service Areas

Where it serves, linked to real places.

  • Offers and promotions

Owner offers and promotion requests, each reviewed before anything appears.

  • Events and content

Dated events and articles, each with one canonical version.

Publication and discovery

  • Publication

Eligibility says where a record may appear; publication is a separate, explicit decision. Nothing publishes automatically.

  • Search and discovery

Search and The Local Start over published records only.

Owners and governance

  • Owner controls

Owners manage their record, locations and requests in the Business Control Center.

  • Review and governance

Change requests, moderation and an audit history of reviewed decisions.

  • Measurement and results

Recorded interactions shown privately to the owner. Demonstration activity is kept out of real totals.

This is a view into the existing platform, not another application. There is no separate platform database, account system, dashboard or API behind this page.

The shared platform supports three specialized platform roles: The Local Information Platform provides the information foundation, while The Local Business Platform and The Local Media Platform apply that foundation to business capabilities and local publishing and distribution.
